If you’re looking for a way to save on your commuting costs, consider participating in the RTA Transit Benefit Fare Program. The amount of money you set aside to pay for your commute doesn’t count as income, so you’re not taxed on it. By having your commuting costs automatically deducted from your paycheck, you’re actually taking home more money and giving less to Uncle Sam. It’s something you’re going to pay for anyway, so not participating is like saying “no thank you” to free money.

Check with your employer to see if they offer the RTA Transit Benefit Fare Program.  If they offer the program, sign up!  If your employer doesn’t offer a transit benefit fare program, encourage them to enroll. You can send your employer an email containing a link to the RTA Transit Benefit Fare Program website.
